Integrated Intermodal Network
At the AllianceTexas Mobility Innovation Zone (MIZ), we’re using the power of innovation to create a more productive, sustainable logistics hub called a Smart Port. The AllianceTexas Smart Port will empower a variety of logistics actors to connect and track goods more efficiently and securely than ever before.

Flight testing facility used by public and private stakeholders to accelerate the development and commercialization of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Advancement of Air Mobility (AAM). Surface uses cases and testing applications with access private paved roadways.
A 1.5-mile quad-oval intermediate speedway hosting both NASCAR and IndyCar events. Alternative use cases include private course testing for autonomous and remote vehicle technology and recently used by the Indy Autonomous Challenge for their world racing competition.
The world's first dedicated industrial airport built together in 1989 through a public-private partnership with the visionaries at Hillwood, the City of Fort Worth, and the FAA. Now ranked the #19 cargo airport in the U.S. moving 2.5B pounds of cargo annually, the only non-passenger airport in the Top 20.
The BNSF Alliance Intermodal Facility delivers 1M+ lifts annually with the capacity to expand to up to 2M while reducing transportation costs through shorter dray, more truck turns, and increased logistics efficiency. The facility encompasses 42,857 feet of track space, 66,768 feet of storage track, 565 on-site stacking and 10 overhead cranes, processing up to 10,000 trucks each day.
I-35W provides border-to-border connection from Mexico to Canada and is the lifeblood of commerce for the Texas Triangle. I-35W also directly connects to over 162 miles of roadway systems in AllianceTexas, including SH-114, SH-170, I-30, and I-20, providing a greater surface transportation network in North Texas and beyond.
The seamless integration of technology and infrastructure within the Smart Port ecosystem supports a 24/7 transportation model that allows continuous logistics movement without interruption between users.
Real-time tracking capabilities create a more agile supply chain, allowing companies and operators to minimize interruptions and enhance efficiency at critical moments across the supply chain.
Enhanced connectivity and insight-driven technology unlock a new level of supply chain efficiency, identifying challenges and optimizing solutions in real time to reduce roadway congestion and improve delivery times.
From trade disruptions to natural disasters, real-time visibility into supply chain disruptions facilitates proactive decision-making that increases the safety, power availability, and reliability of freight transport even in times of crisis.
The AllianceTexas Smart Port will usher in a new era for the supply chain, becoming a first-of-its-kind model that can be replicated to scale in other major transport hubs across the U.S. AllianceTexas recently secured an $80M federal Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant to support the construction of an east-west highway flyover connecting SH-170 and Intermodal Parkway, creating a key gateway to the core of AllianceTexas' inland port. This groundbreaking infrastructure investment is part of an additional $96M in private funding that will solidify AllianceTexas as the national leader in technology integration for industrial development and mobility innovation.
View MapAccess to complex airspace is essential for drone delivery testing and improving unmanned aircraft systems. The MIZ offers a complex airspace environment surrounded by the 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development, providing multiple sites for ground-based radar set up. Ground-based monitoring solutions are a critical component needed for future Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) vehicle navigation.
Recently, the joint NASA/USAF Agility Prime program successfully installed a high-bandwidth air-to-ground and air-to-air communications network at the MIZ. This initiative is a collaborative effort of the North Texas Cohort, including the Helicopter Institute, which provided the surrogate eVTOL aircraft, Unmanned Experts (UMEX), Advanced Air Mobility of Texas (AAMTEX), and Hillwood at the AllianceTexas Flight Test Center.
About ProgramA collaboration with NASA and other partners in 2024 aims to transform Fort Worth and Tarrant County into a premier urban testbed for Advanced Air Mobility demonstrations as well as traditional helicopter flight training activity. This ambitious endeavor will leverage the high-bandwidth network to ensure the MIZ remains at the forefront of urban air mobility innovation, setting new aerial communication and operation standards.
